He was predeceased by: his parents, Burlie Cornett and Ida Cornett (Waters); and his siblings, Edna Hodges and Don Cornett. He is survived by: his wife Madeline Cornett; his sons, Royce (Tiffany), Randy and Ricky Cornett; his grandchildren, R. J. and Brooklyn; and his sisters, Beulah Sanders, Marie Calloway, Rebecca Poncel, Rachel Hayden (Billy) and Lois Hauck (Jerry). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
