He was predeceased by: his children, Kenneth Carter and Rhonda Jacobs; and his siblings, Pam Carter, Ronnie Carter and Carol Wanaks.

He is survived by: his wife Sheila A. Carter; his children, Tabitha Walker (Derk), Steven Carter and Travis Carter; his grandchildren, Samantha Walker, Kenny Carter, Jr., Sara Blackford, Nicole Salazar (Nick), Katrina Kwiatkowski (Adam), Alisha Parker, Brandon Carter, Heather Carter, Sareena Carter and Joshua Carter; and his sisters, Debbie Brooks (Gary) and Connie Brown (Jim). He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
