He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Rate Sr. and Virginia Rate; and his sister Sandra Miekis. He is survived by: his daughters, Deanna Williams (Steve), Denise Ling (Jeff) and Dana Brentlinger (Nicolas); his siblings, Wendy Kimble and Charles Rate; and his former wife Marsha Lorenzen. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
