He is survived by: his brother Leslie "Ricky" Tate; his children, Toiann Tyler of Toledo, Tawanna Murphy (Damon) of Suwanee, Georgia, Afsanah Cunningham of Columbus, Justin Tate of Austin, Terence Orlowski (Marissa) of Chicago and James Anthony "Tony" Tate-Smith of Toledo, Ohio; his close friend Terry Orlowski; his grandchildren, Elvis Tyler (Sheena), Destiney Huggins of Demar, Jamar "Bud" Huggins, Keytana Wilson, Montricie Reid, Kalisha Wilson, Javon Murphy, Isaiah Orlowski, Tarell Jones, James Jones, Semaj Smith and James Smith; and his great grandchildren, Nakay'ia Tyler, Jaylin Tyler, Christopher Tyler, John McPherson III, Kensely Simpson, Kaliyah Reid of Chrishaun, Wallace Jr., Dasahni Boykin of Jamar, Grace "Gracie" Huggins, JaSavion Huggins, Arianna Lampley and Joseph Jones.
