He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cole and Ernestine Cole (Scott); and his sister Maggie Cole. He is survived by: his wife Angela Cole; his children, Roslyn Colwell, Gerald Cole, Lelean Cole and Tiffany Cole; his stepdaughter Angelique Kelly; and his siblings, Linda Flowers, Robert Cole (Anna) and Joan Reed (Lawrence). He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear nieces and nephews.
