It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lawrence J. Helsel (Toledo, Ohio), who passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Lawrence may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Lawrence touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernetta Helsel and John Helsel; and his siblings, Luada "Babe" Sellers, Mary Mondabach and William "Bill" Helsel.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Helsel; his children, Becky Kessler (Mark) and Bryan Helsel; and his stepsons, Alfred Moore Jr. and John Moore. He is also survived by ten loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location.
