He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen; his son Jim Vassar; his parents, John Vassar and Clara Vassar; and his siblings, Tom Vassar and Susan Proto.
He is survived by: his children, Michele Robinson (Greg), Christopher Westley (Michelle), Heather Campbell (Patrick), Amy Heitland (Ray), Bridget Westley, Jennifer Westley, Josh Westley and Zak Vassar (Emilie); his daughter-in-law Leslie Vassar; and his grandchildren, Max, Alex Robinson, Catherine, Justin Westley, Franny, Gus Campbell, Bethany Heitland, Logan, Tatum Westley, Jacob, Sam Vassar, Grace and Margaret Vassar.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Toledo Center (4747 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Toledo Symphony or the American Brain Tumor Association.
