She was predeceased by: her spouse L. C. Bates; her parents, James Hooker Sr. and Reva Marie Hooker; her brothers, Walter Hooker and Peter Hooker (Pete); her grandson Leon Bates III; and her great grandchild Nehemiah Wright.
She is survived by: her children, Leon, Mark and Danielle Bates of Toledo, Ohio.; her siblings, James Hooker Jr. (Carol) of Las Vegas, Eddie Hooker (Beverly), Rose Murray (late Hosey), Darlene Greer (late Theotis), Debbie Hooker and Felicia Larkins-Edwards; and her in-laws, Robert Bates (Wanda), LeRoy Bates (JoRay) and Margaret Patterson (Clevelt). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews.
