Phyllis Bernstein Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Phyllis Bernstein in Toledo, Ohio, who passed away on July 16, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Phyllis farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Phyllis is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sarah Anchel and Clem Anchel; and her pet Piper. She is survived by: her husband Richard Bernstein of Charlotte, N. C; her daughter Shari Caryn Bernstein; her grandchildren, Lindsey Hensley (Aaron) and Samuel Sundermeyer; and her great grandchild Rowan Hensley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Temple Shomer Emunim (6453 W Sylvania Ave, Sylvania, OH 43560). A burial will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery (1502 Central Ave, Toledo, OH 43606).
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Temple Shomer Emunim, Congregation Bnai Israel, or Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo.
