He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Prater and Roxie Prater (Allen); his wives, Irene Roselee Prater (Etts) and Jean Prater (Kinney); his sons, Johnny Ray Prater, Charles Edward Prater Sr., White Benjamin Prater and Gary Brower; and his siblings, Roosevelt Prater, Lacy Prater, Pereice Prater, Ezra Prater, Windle Prater, Danny Prater, Ethel Powers (Prater) and Laura Lois Lacourse (Prater).
He is survived by: his children, Michael Prater (Jewell), David Prater (Twila), Lois Allen (David), Dennis Prater (Roxanne McDaniel) and Carolyn Steel (Robbie); and his caregiver Lindsey. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great grandchildren.
