He was predeceased by: his parents, William Sr. Gilligan and Catherine Gilligan; his brother Jim; and his former wife Carolyn. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Justen Waltz Gilligan; his sister Mary Sullivan; his children, Tim Gilligan (Carole), Matt Gilligan (Patti), Kerry Grubbs (Gilligan), Michael Waltz (Amanda) and Jeff Waltz (Brandi); and his grandchildren, Adam Gilligan, Caroline Gilligan, Riley Berends, Nathan Grubbs, Jason Gilligan, Nicholas Gilligan, Brady Gilligan, Hunter Waltz, Kaylee Berends, Kelsey Grubbs, Logan Waltz, Luke Waltz and Gillian King. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Joseph W. Diehn Post 468, American Legion in Bill's memory.
