She was predeceased by: her parents, William Franklin and Susie Viola; her former husband Hillary Neal James, Sr.; her husband Orlan Carl Hepner, Sr.; her sons, Stephen P. James and Wilbur N. James; and her siblings, William Marcus, Lester Marcus, Mahlon Marcus, Havard Marcus, Russell Marcus, Herman Marcus, Ruth Marcus, Leola Cubbage, Hyenthae "Tootsie" Lanham, Martha Lanham and Evelyn James.
She is survived by: her son Hillary N. James, Jr. (Belinda); her grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer of Frederick, MD; her daughter Nancy E. Hunter; her grandson Stanley Hunter; her great grandchildren, Jett and Zachary of Tulsa, OK; her granddaughter Anne Marie Shipman (Jim); her great grandchildren, Adam and Nicole of Winchester, VA; Malachi. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
