He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Ann Cress (Bowman); his parents, Edwin Cress and Mabel Cress (Bridenbaugh); and his siblings, Lowell Cress, Kermit Cress and Lois Kuck.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah (Mike Young) of Boise, Idaho, Patricia (Darrell Sickels) of Troy and Jeffrey (Beverly Cress) of Dayton; his grandchildren, Tara Lee (Brandy Crissey), Jordan (Katy Lee), Seth Sickels, Katelyn Cress and Lauren Young; and his great grandchild Ellie Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill History Center.
