He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Edward and Esther Josephine Lutz (Elking); his wife Kathleen Rae "Kay" Lutz (Remley); and his children, Steven Wayne Swartz, Timothy Michael Lutz and Tammy Rene Lutz (Gulley).
He is survived by: his siblings, Robert E. Lutz, Jr., Lawrence Lutz, Thomas Lutz, Mary Kay Lutz, Fred Lutz, Edd Lutz and Theresa Burrows; his children, Jeffrey Daniel Swartz (Candis) of Troy, Robert Wade Swartz (Penny), Terri Lynn Brown (Lutz) of Minster and Thomas Patrick Lutz (Deanna) of Lombard, IL; and his siblings, Paul Lutz of Cincinnati, Louanne Burke of Katy, TX, Rosemarie Davis (Dick) of Union, Rita Knowles of North Carolina and Linda DeMange (Dave) of Piqua. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Boniface Catholic Church (310 S Downing St, Piqua, OH 45356).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Last Dollar Grant at The Future Begins Today in memory of John's wife, Kay.
