She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorsey Martin and Harriet Rebecca Chavis (Hill); and her brothers, Alfred Chavis and Dorsey Martin Chavis Jr.. She is survived by: her brothers, Marvin Chavis of Texas and Craig Chavis of Westerville, Ohio; and her nieces and nephews, Donald, William, Tia, Shelly, Celeste and Craig Jr.. She is also survived by two great nephews and two great nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
