He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Lawson; his sons, Richard Smith Messler III, Steven Michael Messler and David Brian Messler; his grandchildren, Lara Leighann Messler (Cody Magato) of Tipp City and Colin Taylor Messler (Brianne Nicole) of West Milton, Ohio.; and his great grandchildren, Jayden Shawn Magato and Landon Jayce Messler.
