With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Mae Brooks of Urbana, Ohio, born in Paintsville, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 20, 2024 at the age of 62. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Barbara Mae departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Barbara Mae may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and the legacy Barbara Mae leaves behind.

She was predeceased by : her parents, James Arthur and Lorena Mae Lyons (Castle); her husband Brett L. Brooks; and her sister Jannette Stewart. She is survived by : her son Daniel Brett Brooks; and her siblings, James Ronald Lyons (Lisa) and Joyce Ann Lyons. She is also survived by 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vernon Funeral Home (235 Miami St, Urbana, OH 43078). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara's family would like to direct contributions to Barbara's son, Daniel Brooks, to help to continue his care. The contributions may be made to VERNON FUNERAL HOME, 235 Miami St., Urbana, Ohio 43078.
