With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Antonia Alvarez of Van Wert, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 13, 2025 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jose Torrez and Antonia Torrez; and her siblings, Elida, Hilberto, Simona, Jesse, Alicia, Juan, Ernesto, Jose and Esther.
She is survived by: her husband John; her daughters, Lisa Alvarez and Amy Ellis (Adam); her grandchildren, Juan, Mack, Faith Johnson, Hope Escobedo (Frankie), Arianna, Alysah, Alexah, Zander Thompson, Zerick and Zerin Shields; her great grandchildren, Colson, Gabriella, Ellianna, Isabella, Nyah, Nico, Adyson, Hayden, Adalynn, Mateo, Maverick, Kalea, Marianna, Christopher and Charlie; and her sisters, Elma and Janie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and in-laws.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home (616 S Washington St, Van Wert, OH 45891). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Calvary Evangelical Church.
