He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Johns and Marguerite Johns (Miller); his sister Nancy Finkhousen; and his brother-in-law Gary Ashbaugh. He is survived by: his wife Kay Johns of Van Wert; his son Steven Johns of Van Wert; his granddaughter Megan Hartman (Nathan) of Ossian, Indiana; his great grandchildren, Bronson, Cody and Lynleigh; his siblings, Larry Johns (Ivy) of Lebanon, Ohio, Dana Johns (Cathy) of Ft Wayne, Rick Johns (Alice) of Convoy, Barry Johns of Van Wert and Deb Ashbaugh of Van Wert; and his half-brother Chris Fox (Kim) of Celina.

Carl's family requests no flowers or keepsake items. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Van Wert County Humane Society.
