With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Donna Smith of Van Wert, Ohio, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 16, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lillian Slane (Foley) and Lester Slane; her husband Frank Smith, Sr.; and her son-in-law Junior Schmidt. She is survived by: her former husband Louis Ross (Gene); her children, Kevin Ross (Kaye), Angela Schmidt and Julie Potter (Brian); her grandchildren, Jordan Ross (Alison), Grant Ross, Drew Ross (Brad), Jessica Schmidt, Dedra Roop (Jed), Caine Schmidt, Nick Potter (Brittany) and Kathryn Zug (Jeremy); her siblings, Janet Kever of Van Wert and Terry Slane of Indianapolis; Jayme (Donna). She is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home (616 S Washington St, Van Wert, OH 45891). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Preferred memorials may be made to Calvary Evangelical Church music department.
