He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Grimes and Gertrude Grimes (Font); his siblings, Edgar "Ned" Grimes, Eugene "Beanie" Grimes and Ellen Scantlin; and his son-in-law Dennis Dailey.
He is survived by: his wife Ellen Grimes of Van Wert; his children, Jon Grimes (Suzie) of Van Wert and Cindy Dailey of Van Wert; his grandchildren, Melissa Gent (Rick), Lyndsay, Travis Grimes (Jami), Gavin, Chad Dailey and Jodi Dailey; his great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kylee, Elizabeth, Brok, Kyndra, Stella, Anikyn, Abel, Chloe, Olivia and Bryce; and his great great grandchildren, Avionna and Zavier.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 4th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory (722 S Washington St, Van Wert, OH 45891). Growing up, Ed spent time living at the Marsh Foundation.
