He was predeceased by: his father George Sanford "Sandy" Gardner; his stepmother Nancy Gardner; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Ainsworth and David Lynn Smith. He is survived by: his children, Brittany of Lima, Kyley of Van Wert and Dylan of Van Wert; his stepson Brett Fortney of Van Wert; his grandchildren, Hannah, Jude Vetter, Michele Gardner of Van Wert, Avi Fortman of Ottawa, Gabe Fortman of Van Wert and Draven Brown of Van Wert; his aunt Pat Prichard; his brothers, Keith Gardner (Mitzi) and Tony Gardner (Patty); and his siblings-in-law, Debbie Owens (Terry), Diane Jenkins (Dick), Brenda Smith, Dan Lehman (Judy) and David Lee Lehman (Judi).
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home (616 S Washington St, Van Wert, OH 45891). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
