It is with sadness that the passing of John D. McVay (Van Wert, Ohio) is shared. John, born on June 18, 1948 in Greenville, Ohio, passed away on September 18, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
John will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. Friends and family will honor John by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence he had in their lives. Though John is no longer present, the bonds he created and the experiences shared will endure. John’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew him.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence E. McVay and Frances E. McVay (Kline); his aunt Louise; and his sister Mary Louise Worthington. He is survived by: his sister Susan McVay of Van Wert.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home (616 S Washington St, Van Wert, OH 45891). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Van Wert (110 W Crawford St, Van Wert, OH 45891). A burial will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Greenville Union Cemetery (200 West St, Greenville, OH 45331).
