He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James and Mildred Illo Carroll (Penwell); and his brother James Carroll (Barbara L. Carroll). He is survived by: his wife Kay L. Schaeffer-Carroll (Huston); his children, Russell Carroll (Carolyn) and Michelle Huffines (Rob); his brother John Carroll (Michelle); his grandchildren, Zach, Danny, Grace, Elizabeth, Brianna and Elijah; his great grandchild Scotlyn; his stepdaughter Laura Nordaune (Tim); his stepgrandchildren, Nick, Benton and Annalyn; his stepdaughter Suzanne Russell (Ladd); his stepgrandchildren, Kadan, Landon, Evan and Madelyn; and his stepdaughter Jill Schaeffer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Gary to either the Salvation Army or Doctors without borders.
