He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard W. Burger and Nelda E. Love; his stepfather Albert E. Love; and his brother Kurt William Burger. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Burger; his children, Alexandra Burger of South Padre Island, Kirsten Birkhead (Brandon) and Richard Scott Burger (Tyler) of Chicago, Illinois; and his sisters-in-law, Claire Burger, Sharon Bardus and Lucy Bickel. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Riddle Funeral Home (5345 South St, Vermilion, OH 44089). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM at 8114 Cemetery Rd, Vermilion, OH 44089.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Vermilion Lions Club or Friendship Animal Protective League.
