Shirley Ferguson Obituary
Shirley (Harmon) Ferguson, 79, of Vermilion, passed away early Sunday morning, May 7, 2017 at Providence Care Centers after a lengthy illness. Shirley was born on February 12, 1938 in Sandusky, OH to the late Stanley K. and Goldie M. (Cain) Harmon. Shirley was a 1956 graduate from Sandusky High School. She retired as the apartment complex manager for Colonial Meadows and the Floridian Apartments in Elyria after more than 20 years of service.
Shirley was an avid reader, card player, and Skip-Bo champion. She was a believer of spare the rod and spoil the child. She was a beloved wife, who loved spending time with her family and friends, and was quite a wonderful young lady who drew her strength from the Lord. Shirley is survived by her husband of 60 years, John W. Ferguson Sr.
She is also survived by her daughters, Susan (Ray) Mckenzie and Pamela (George) Davenport both of Sandusky; sons, John (Jen) Jr. of Sandusky and Rick (Vikki) Ferguson of Norwalk; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Stephen Cobb and numerous other nieces, nephews, and relatives. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Scott W. Ferguson; sister, Dolores Anderson and brother, Stanley "Buster" Harmon.
At Shirley's request, cremation will take place and private family services will be held and conducted. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
