He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford C. Hopkinson and Roseanna Ball Hopkinson; his sons, Douglas A. Hopkinson and Bryan P. Hopkinson; and his siblings, Herbert Hopkinson, Floyd Hopkinson and Beverly A. McNeal.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret E. Smith; his children, Linda L. Yannon (Buster) of Vienna, Jeffrey L. Hopkinson of Golden Valley and Edward J. Hopkinson Jr. (Paige) of Archdale; and his grandchild Chris Yannon (Annie).
