He was predeceased by : his parent Nettie Garee (Evans); his siblings, Elton, Wendel, Mary and Lillian; and his former life partner Joyce.

He is survived by : his children, David, Donald Jr., Julie and Douglas. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
