He was predeceased by: his wife Laura Charnas; his siblings, Aristithis "Archie" Charnas and Thespina Dorothy Papalas; and his siblings-in-law, Maureen Charnas, Stella Charnas and Alex Papalas.

He is survived by: his daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Knight (Roscoe) of Houston, Texas and Ellen Cort (John) of Santa Fe; his brother Stephanos Charnas (Steve) of Warren, Ohio.; and his grandchildren, Alexis "Lexi", Nicole, Savannah, Jack Charnas, Awsten, Laura Grace "Gracie" Knight, Eleni and Theo Charnas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gust's name to ONE Health Ohio, a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organization providing dental care to individuals in need (330) 747-2330.

“This is to all of Gust's children and other extended family who loved him. Gust was my wife, Booboo's, cousin. Not so long ago, last Thanksgiving, we had the honor of having Gust as our guest for the day. I don't know if I had ever had that much time with him. He spoke so lovingly, and with tears, about his wife, Laura. He told funny stories, and even sang a song from his military days. We watched youtubes of dental procedures! You have lost a wonderful man. I am so sorry. Kenny”
