He was predeceased by: his parents, James Martin and Helen Hutley Martin; his stepfather Edwin Holmes; and his siblings, Cleotis Martin, Nathanial Martin, Evelyn Martin, Velma Provo and Fannie Martin.

He is survived by: his sons, Robert J. Martin Jr. of Mineral Ridge, Broderick D. Tillman of Kansas City, MO and Roland D. Tillman of Kansas City, MO; and his sisters, Joyce Crawford and Gladys Jones of Oakland, CA. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
