He was predeceased by : his parents, Clyde Chase and Mabel Chase (Perrigo); his wife R. Alene Chase (Courtright); his siblings, Dorothy, Charles, Malcolm Chase, Lois Aaron and Helen Kamban; and his son-in-law Mike Carey.

He is survived by : his daughter Mary Chase-Carey of Zanesville; his grandsons, Matthew Carey (Katie) of Dresden, Nicholas Carey (LeeAnne) of Coshocton, Morgan Carey (Hannah) of Howard and Michah "MJ" Carey (Cassandra) of Newark; his great grandchildren, Keegan, Zoee, Lana, Lincoln and Hallie Carey; and his sister Betty Lillibridge. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“I met Mr. Chase when his daughter, Mary, brought him to the Dresden United Methodist Church to get some library books to read over the summer. He was such a sweet man and I loved talking with him and teasing him. He will be missed along with his daughter, Mary. May God give each one of you peace and comfort during this trying time.”
