He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Hartzell, and Marie Hartzell, Jr. (Handeland). He is survived by: his wife Charlene (Smith); his children, Sheila Vernot (Thomas) and Clarence Hartzell, IV (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Ivy Hartzell, Taylor Kohls (Andrew), Clarence Hartzell V, Kyle Vernot (Palmer) and Braden Vernot (Ella); his great grandchildren, Kylie Merriweather, Lilly Hartzell and Ellie Kohls; and his sisters, Judy Lewis (Don), Jan Murphy (Ken) and Joyce Fike (Mike Waybright).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice or the Browning Masonic Home in Waterville, Ohio.
