It is with sadness that the passing of Valda Elizabeth Gochenour Short (Wauseon, Ohio) is shared. Valda, born on February 21, 1933, passed away on October 17, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Gochenour and Vertie Gochenour (Hinton); and her siblings, Hilda Moyer, Ned Gochenour, Keith Gochenour, Elwood Gochenour, Alma Rupp, Dorothy Gochenour, Nelson Gochenour, Joyce Keyser, Lennis Lucas, Garnett Gochenour, Rena Lesko and Carson Gochenour.
She is survived by: her husband Marlin; her children, Gwen Nofziger (Mike) of Lyons, Michael (Peg Wyse) of Archbold, Sharon VonDeylen (late Dale) of Napoleon and Randy (late Deb Shetterly) of Archbold; her grandchildren, Stacy, Kim, Brad, Tony, Laurie, Adam, Kayla, Tyler, Erin, Eric, Jessica, Becca and Emily; her stepgrandchildren, Chris and Keri; and her sister Ruth Stump. She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tedrow Mennonite Church (252 Windish St, Wauseon, OH 43567). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
The family suggests that memorials be given to Tedrow Mennonite Church, Fairlawn Haven or the donor's choice.
