He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe Hartley and Mary Bachmann (Blaum); his grandparents, Charles and Matilda Blaum (Landrum); his brother Edward Blaum (Kathleen); and his brother-in-law Frank Conkel.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hartley (Thompson); his children, Paul Hartley (Shelia), Paula Humphreys (Dave) and Patricia Hartley; his siblings, Fred Bachmann (Renee) and Donna Bachmann Aken (John); and his close friends, John McAllister and Lloyd. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made to Calvary Methodist Church, 107 W 3rd Street, Waverly, Ohio.
