He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Gaines and Shirley Burns. He is survived by: his former wife Roberta K. Hogan; his wife Berta; his children, Jasmine, Justice, Jermaine Jr., Jayda and Jaquan Smith; and his grandchildren, Rayce and Emery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Barndt Funeral Home (121 W South St, Wayne, OH 43466).
