He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Allen and Phyllis Nadine Hefner Hardin, Sr.; his great grandchild Trajan Sherrick; and his siblings, Tonya Hardin and Nick Hardin.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth L. Young; his sons, James J. Hardin, Jr. (Missy) of Waynesfield, John Wesley Hardin of Lima and Dan Foltz (Jandra) of Dunkirk, IN; and his siblings, Dawn James (John) of Waynesfield, Richard A. Hardin, Jr. (Molly), Brian Hardin (Sharon) of Waynesfield, Barry B. Hardin (Teresa) of Alger and Frank Hardin of Palmer, Alaska.. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 13 plus great grandchildren.
