He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard'Bud' Waitman and Pearl Sheldon Waitman. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Waitman; his children, Matthew Waitman of Waynesfield and Jennifer Flinn; his grandchildren, Alex, Gabe and Cody; his brother Mark Waitman (Jolene) of Waynesfield; and his nephews, Kyle Waitman and Brock Waitman.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
