“He wasn't even aware that I existed, but Doug was my all-time hero and role model when I was growing up. I was orphaned at an early age, and hoops was my refuge and salvation. Every kid who carried around a basketball in Huber Heights wanted to be like Doug Curry. Brownlee, Staley, Trimble, Frank... every last one of us. He was an incredible defender, and an unselfish team player. He led Wayne to an unheard record at the tme of 28-13 in his junior and senior years.”
