He is survived by: his children, Christopher Gates (Alicia) and Sonja Bitsko (Gates); his stepchildren, Jacinda Wheeler (Bill), Alicia Scaglione (Joe) and Dana Ward (Karen); his grandchildren, Reagan, Carson, Collin, Rachel of Corinne, C. J., Jack, Jacob, Hannah and Hailey; his brother James Gates (Beth); and his nephews, Scott Gates, Jamie Gates (Shelley), Matthew Gates (Alison) and Adelee.
