He was predeceased by : his parents, Donley Clay and Minnie Esther Whisman (Dalton); his wife Maude E. "Marty" Whisman; his daughter-in-law Deborah Sue "Debbie" Whisman; and his siblings, John, Gene, Frank, Donnie, Dick, Lillian and Shirley.

He is survived by : his children, Brian Whisman and Tyra Whisman-Perry (David); his grandchildren, Krista Barnes (David), Jennifer Whisman Melvin (Joe), Makenzie Whisman, Hailey Barnes, Cameron Whisman, Cameren Melvin, David Barnes, Jr. (Megan Sparks), Kaleigh Melvin, Conner Kachelmyer, Peyton Barnes (Alure Jewell), Abigail Barnes, Ellie Barnes, Carter Kachelmyer and Isabella Melvin; his great great grandchild Liam Barnes; and his close friend Lorene Robinson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
