He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Leighty and Martha Leighty; his son Randall Gray; his grandson Christopher Leighty; his sister Paula Hawthorne; and his son-in-law Dennis Young.

He is survived by: his wife Florence Beckett Leighty; his children, Pam Witt (David), David Leighty (Jane) and Heather Young; his grandchildren, Madison, Gabrielle Witt, David Leighty, Alysha Webb (Junior), Thomas and Carmen Young; and his great grandchild Ella Webb.
