He was predeceased by: his father John "Jack" Bates; and his sister Kathy Schwartz. He is survived by: his mother Anna Bates (Rohr); his wife Jessica Bates (Metzger); his children, Beau Bates (Kellie) of Ladson, Austin Bates (Courtney) of West Lafayette and Mackenzie Fisher (Adam) of West Lafayette; his grandchildren, Jaxon, Mason, Dylan, Walker, Wyatt, Wheeler, Bexley and Eastyn; and his brother John Bates. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory (116 2nd St NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
