He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Dale and Myrrl Shellhaas (Spence); his wife Rose Mary; and his siblings, Sally Pestle and John Shellhaas.

He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Shellhaas, Samuel Shellhaas and Alexander Shellhaas (Evelyn); and his grandchildren, Macy, Ethan and Jake Shellhaas. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.
