He was predeceased by: his parents, Mason Stapleton and Tealie Stapleton (McCoy); his wife Nancy Stapleton; his daughter Teresa Hoskins; his son-in-law Mike; his daughter Sherry Scott; and his close friend Kay Cofer.
He is survived by: his son Shawn Stapleton (Tina) of Warsaw, IN; his grandchildren, Andrew Scott, Kara, Lauren Davenport, Tim, Matthew Scott, Nicole, David Hoskins, Benjamen Scott, Brittany, Abigail Stapleton and Wyatt Stapleton; his great grandchildren, Christian Hoskins, Audrey Scott, Evan Scott, Isaiah Davenport, Josiah Davenport, Rocco Scott, Xavier Scott and Hadlee Scott; and his son-in-law Drew Scott of West Union, OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He also served on local boards including Adams County Children Services, Canter's Cave 4-H Camp, and the American Cancer Society.
