He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair W Shaffer and Elizabeth "Ella" Shaffer (Dewitt); his daughter Theresa Shaffer; and his sisters, Shirley Shaffer, Maxine Wade, Carol Reliford and Dorothy Roberts.
He is survived by: his daughter Kimberly Shaffer (Dean Frazer) of Archbold; his grandchildren, Thomas Shaffer, Sr. (Heavenly) of Bryan and Dennis Shaffer of Archbold; his great grandchild Thomas Shaffer Jr.; his sister Helen Ayers of Arizona; his girlfriend Pauline Salyer of Hillsdale, Michigan; and his nieces, Shirley Rodgers and Sandy Hartsock.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home - West Unity Chapel (202 N Liberty St, West Unity, OH 43570). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
