He was predeceased by: his wife Carole; his close friend Sandra Maecker; his parents, John Newman and Martha Newman; and his siblings, Iva, Chrystal Newman, Arvilla Blower (Roy), Betty Rohde (Leonard), Shirley Czerney (Arthur), Kenneth and Wilbur Newman.
He is survived by: his daughters, Janet Allie (Gary) and Cindy Fleischer (Shawn); his sister Ruth Williams; his sister-in-law Glady Newman; his brothers, Bruce (Donna Shrock), Grant (Mary Ann Parker) and Richard Williams; and his in-laws, Beatrice and Arthur RookerJoseph. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Food Bank or the ASPCA.
