He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Nester and Gertrude Nester (Steffey); and his siblings, Herman, Bobby Ray Nester, James Nester and Phyllis Geraldine Taylor.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Nester (Sexton); his daughter Kathy Belmares (Luis); his grandchildren, Luis Jr., Matthew and Hannah Belmares; his great grandchildren, Maleigha Billey and Elliana Belmares; and his siblings, Billy Nester, John Nester (Ella Mae), Irene Bartow (Clayton) and Edie Fritz (Gene). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
