He is survived by: his children, John Dawson (Sarah) of Painesville, Jimmie Dawson of Willoughby, Mike and Rob Dawson of Florida; his grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, Johnathon, Isabella, Lydia, Mickenzie, Lincoln, Brooklyn, Alice and Kayden; his sisters, Vickie Young and Candy Goglin (Jeff); and his nieces and nephews, Kelly, Carl, Chris, Jennifer and Kenny.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Homeless Vets or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, in honor of James's compassionate spirit.
