He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard Smith and Beverly Smith (Paul); his wife Betty JoAnn Smith; his grandson Daniel Ray Smith; and his siblings, Steve Smith and Nancy Harris.

He is survived by : his children, Rhonda Bond (Mark), Carliss Smith Jr. (Cheri), Michael Smith (Shaunda) and JoAnna Powell (Aaron); his grandchildren, Kathy Smith, Samantha Constant (Brad), Brandon Smith, Rebecca Smith, Mikey Smith, Brett Smith, Renee Constant (Zachary), Aubrey Powell and Gabrielle Powell; his great grandchildren, Mia Constant, Azaria Constant and Shirley Clifton; and his siblings, Charlise Mattos, Pamela Harner (Richard Faul) and Wayne Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
