He is survived by: his wife Mary Mers (Wall); his sons, Richard Mers (Tammie) of Georgetown and Timothy Mers of Winchester; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Foster of Bethel and Jane Spadetti of Arlington, Virginia.; his grandchildren, Amanda Garvie of Georgetown and David Mers of Georgetown; and his great grandchildren, Christopher and Samantha. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
